What this website does and does not collect, in plain language.
Steady Bearing is built to collect as little as possible. Reading about recovery is private business, and the site has no reason to know who is reading.
No trackers
The site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, loads no advertising or social media widgets and has no accounts, forms that store data or newsletter. The pages do not try to identify visitors or follow them from page to page.
Fonts and hosting
Two things involve outside companies. The typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which means a visitor's browser asks Google's servers for font files, and Google receives the technical information any web request carries, such as an IP address. The site is also served from a content delivery network, which, like any web host, keeps routine technical logs of requests. This site does not see or use those logs. Readers who want to avoid the font request can block it in their browser, and the pages fall back to standard fonts.
Links to other sites
Source links lead to the websites of the agencies and journals cited. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and the library has no control over them.
The contact form simply opens a visitor's own email program with a prepared message. Nothing is submitted to this website. A message sent to the editors is read, used for corrections and kept only as long as needed for that purpose.
